Pongal is the most energizing festival in South India especially in Tamil Nadu. Pongal is the festival celebrated for thanks giving day to god for the harvest production throughout the year. So it is also known as Harvest festival. People celebrated Pongal as categorized in to 4 days.
The first day of Pongal is known as Bhogi Pongal, The significance of this Pongal is to welcome the new beginning and omit the past sad and useless things. So people burn their old things on fire at the night of Bhogi. The next is the Thai Pongal. Thai is the name of the tamil month. People worshipping sun god on this day and celebrated with some special dish that prepared using rice and milk.
Mattu Pongal is the next special day of Pongal which is celebrated for worshipping the farming animals like cow.
Kanum Pongal is the last day of Pongal festival, which is celebrated for share happiness together with family and relatives. People choose to go for relative places on this day.
