Tamilnadu Local bodies Elections Announced


State Election Commission announced local polls Corporation, Municipal, panchayat elections in Tamil Nadu will be held two days on October 17th and 19th. The two phases of elections to be done, the 1st phase of elections will be held for 9 corporations, 60 municipalities, 259 town panchayats and 191 panchayat unions.

The 2nd phase of election includes 65 municipalities, 270 town panchayats and 194 panchayat unions will take the poll on October 19. They did not announce anything about Tiruchi Corporation.

Tamilnadu State election commissioner Mr.Ayyar said the model system of conduct came into result on Wednesday night and the nominations started on last Thursday 22nd september. The last date for nomination filed was last 29 September. The nomination withdrawal date was yesterday October 3.

The poll counts starts on October 21 after 2nd day of election and will be announced tamilnadu election results on same day, the local bodies representative meeting and swearing ceremony will be held on 25th October. And other indirect elections for panchayat union chairmen and vice-chairmen, district panchayat chairmen and vice chairmen, town panchayat vice presidents, deputy Mayors and deputy chairmen for municipalities swearing ceremony will take place on 29th October.

Electronic Voting machines to be used 1st time in local bodies polls for Panchayats, Municipalities and Municipal corporations in Tamilnadu says State election commissionor Mr.Ayyar.Also He said, two Voting machines to be placed in every election booth for the election of mayors and the municipalities chairmen and presidents of town panchayats and another for election of councilors. An additional significant feature was online preparation of electoral rolls.

In addition photo id cards, voters will get booth slips with their photos. The booth slips will be provided before a week of elections by government emloyees. If voters missed to get booth slips, they could be got it directly on nearer election booths.
